In Vietnam’s central Da Nang City, a 41-year-old woman has been arrested and is being investigated for allegedly plotting her husband’s murder. Police say she persuaded his two teenage sons to carry out the attack in a case linked to family conflict and property disputes.

The suspect, identified as Nguyen Thi Kim Sau, is accused of convincing the boys that their father intended to leave family assets to another child from a different relationship. Authorities say this created tension inside the household and led to the deadly plan.

Family Background and Allegations

Police reported that Sau married the victim, Nguyen Chien Thang, last year. The victim had two sons from a previous marriage, including a 19-year-old elder son and a 14-year-old younger son.

Investigators allege that Sau repeatedly spoke to the boys about inheritance issues. She is said to have promised them control over property if they followed her instructions. Authorities believe she also assured support for the elder son after any prison sentence.

Planned Attack

According to police findings, Sau worked with the two sons to plan the killing in detail. The alleged plan involved an argument at home on the night of February 23. The sons were also expected to be away earlier that evening at an internet café before returning later.

Investigators say the situation changed when the elder son returned home around 2 a.m. and attacked his sleeping father. He reportedly used a rope in an attempt to strangle him but fled after the victim shouted for help.

Fatal Incident

Police allege Sau then instructed the younger son to contact his brother and bring him back to complete the attack. She is also accused of preparing a hammer and placing it inside the house to assist the plan.

Authorities say the elder son later returned and struck his father with the hammer while Sau was present. After the victim collapsed, the younger son allegedly joined in the attack using a metal object.

Investigation and Arrests

Following the incident, police say Sau attempted to clean the scene and hide evidence. The elder son was detained, while the younger son, who is below full criminal responsibility age in Vietnam, is being processed for placement in a reform school.

Investigators became suspicious after finding differences in statements and forensic evidence. Police also noted unusual behavior from the family after the death.

On May 20, authorities detained Sau and the younger son. Police said both suspects later admitted involvement after being confronted with evidence. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to examine the case in detail.
