Graceline’s Cancer Returned

For many families, childhood means worrying about school, birthdays and scraped knees. For 12-year-old Graceline Famlevina, life has looked very different. Graceline has been fighting acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), a form of blood cancer. During her fifth cycle of maintenance chemotherapy, her family received devastating news. Her cancer had returned.

The relapse came before she could complete all eight planned cycles of treatment. Her family now faces another difficult battle. To survive, Graceline urgently needs intensive chemotherapy, booster treatments, a Donor Lymphocyte Infusion (DLI), and a second bone marrow transplant.

A Family Already Carrying Heartbreak

Graceline is her parents’ only remaining child. Two years ago, while Graceline was undergoing treatment, tragedy struck the family. Her younger brother Sean contracted meningitis and passed away. While fighting to save one child, they lost another.

Despite their grief, Graceline’s parents had to continue showing up every day for their daughter’s treatment. There was little time to process the pain while hospital visits and medical care continued. Their focus remained on helping Graceline survive.

The First Bone Marrow Transplant

In April 2025, Graceline experienced her first relapse after developing symptoms including fever and worrying blood test results. Doctors later advised that she required more advanced treatment. She was brought to Singapore and underwent intensive chemotherapy followed by a bone marrow transplant.

Months later, her family finally received hopeful news. Tests showed no detectable blast cells and Graceline was cleared to proceed with her transplant. In September 2025, she successfully underwent her first bone marrow transplant.

The procedure alone cost around SGD300,000.

The Long Road To Recovery

Following the transplant, Graceline continued maintenance chemotherapy. Her recovery journey remained difficult. Because of low neutrophil counts and a weakened immune system, treatments had to be delayed. Doctors later extended her chemotherapy from six cycles to eight.

The additional treatment also meant rising medical costs. Her family hoped each milestone would bring Graceline closer to returning to school and living normally again. Instead, the cancer returned.

Urgent Help Needed For A Second Transplant

Graceline has now started another round of intensive chemotherapy. A recent update shared by her family said she began her first chemotherapy cycle after doctors inserted a PICC line. Although treatment has restarted, the process remains painful and difficult.

Her family is now racing to raise funds for a Donor Lymphocyte Infusion and a second bone marrow transplant. The estimated cost for this phase of treatment is SGD363,700.

In total, the family says,

‘She needs intensive chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant with total cost approximately SGD 450,000.’

More Than SGD282k Raised So Far

Graceline’s fundraiser on Give.Asia has raised over SGD282,000 so far from more than 3,500 donors. To cover all costs and support future campaigns, the fundraiser needs to raise S$790,000.

The funds raised will be managed through Give.Asia and paid directly to the hospital for treatment purposes. Despite everything she has endured, Graceline continues fighting.

Please give Graceline a chance to keep fighting. If you can donate, please help. If you cannot, help spread the word.
