The original poster described the bag as “absolutely disgusting,” claiming food appeared to have burst open inside after a possible fall or spill. The user also alleged there was alcohol inside the delivery bag alongside customer orders.
“Imagine your food being kept in such a state,” the post read, with the user saying the incident completely turned them off ordering delivery.
The internet immediately spirals into hygiene horror stories
The comments quickly turned into a full-blown oversharing session, with users flooding the thread with their own stories about food hygiene, delivery riders, and things they wish they never witnessed.
Some talked about seeing food left near bins, while others shared encounters with people allegedly not washing their hands after using public toilets before returning to work.
A few users bluntly admitted the post made them rethink food delivery altogether. Others argued this is simply the reality of fast-moving food service and gig work in many cities.
Debate rapidly turns to gig worker words
Finally, the discussion became split into two sides: those who were repelled by the image. And those who were protecting riders who are facing grueling working hours, low wages, and demands to rush deliveries.
Some commenters argued that poor treatment and lack of respect toward gig workers naturally affect morale and standards. Others strongly resisted it, claiming that hygiene should not be sacrificed, even for a stressful occupation.
Some users also wondered if the rider could have accidentally dropped the bike while delivering, as falls and spills are common occurrences during deliveries.
