A 14-year-old girl in Alor Setar managed to escape an attempted abduction after bravely fighting back against a man riding a motorcycle. The frightening incident happened on Wednesday evening in Pekan Simpang Kuala, a well-known area in Kedah, Malaysia.

Police said the teenager was walking alone along a lane at around 8.26 pm when the suspect suddenly stopped his motorcycle in front of her. The man then grabbed the girl and covered her face with his hand in an apparent attempt to abduct her.
Teenager Escapes During Struggle
According to Kota Setar OCPD ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali, the victim reacted quickly during the struggle. She bit the suspect’s hand before managing to break free and run away from the scene.

The teenager later rushed to a nearby tuition centre, where she sought immediate help from people inside the building. She was reported to be safe and did not suffer serious injuries during the incident.
Police confirmed that the student lodged an official report the following day. Officers then began an investigation to identify and locate the suspect involved in the attempted kidnapping.
Police Gather Evidence From the Scene
ACP Syed Basri Syed Ali said the case is currently being investigated under Section 363 and Section 511 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
Authorities have also requested assistance from the D10 Forensics Division of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Kedah police headquarters. Investigators are working to collect forensic samples and examine evidence found near the location of the incident.

Police believe the suspect acted alone, although his identity has not yet been confirmed. Officers are also checking nearby areas and reviewing information that may help track down the man.
Public Urged To Share Information
Authorities urged members of the public with information about the case to contact the police immediately. Investigators hope witnesses or nearby residents may have noticed suspicious activity before or after the attempted abduction.
The incident has raised safety concerns among families and students living in the area. Police said patrols and monitoring efforts would continue while investigations remain ongoing.
