Fans attending a concert by IVE in Kuala Lumpur recently experienced a special moment before the show officially began. At the packed Axiata Arena, thousands of concertgoers stood together while Malaysia’s national anthem, “Negaraku,” played across the venue.

The concert was part of IVE’s latest world tour and attracted many young K-pop fans from across the region. Before the lights and music performances started, two large Malaysian flags appeared on the arena screens. Fans immediately stood up quietly as the anthem began playing throughout the venue.
Respectful Atmosphere Inside Arena
The crowd remained calm and respectful during the anthem. Many people sang along together while others stood silently at attention. The arena stayed dark except for the stage screens displaying the national flags. The moment lasted only a short time, but it became one of the most talked-about parts of the evening.

Playing the national anthem before large public events is a common practice in Malaysia. It is often heard before movies in cinemas, official ceremonies, and major entertainment events. Under Malaysian regulations, people are expected to stand respectfully when the anthem is played in public places.
Concert Draws Large Audience
The concert attracted thousands of fans eager to watch the popular K-pop group perform live. Ticket prices ranged from around S$115 for standard seats to about S$303 for VIP packages. Despite the high prices, most seats inside the arena were filled before the show started.

IVE performed several of their well-known songs during the concert. Fans used light sticks and sang along throughout the event. The group’s visit to Malaysia was one of the major K-pop concerts held in the country this year.
Discussion About Regional Traditions

The anthem moment also started conversations in neighboring Singapore. In Singapore, the national anthem is commonly played during school ceremonies, government functions, and National Day celebrations. However, it is not usually played before concerts or movie screenings.
