Travelers visiting Northern Thailand are discovering a new way to explore the countryside from the sky. A recent viral video showed a tourist taking a special “Flying Grab” ride using a powered paraglider instead of a normal taxi or motorcycle. The unusual flight gave the visitor a chance to see Thailand’s famous rice fields from high above the ground.

The experience started in a large open field where a professional pilot prepared the aircraft for takeoff. The vehicle, also known as a paramotor, included a small frame with wheels, a rear engine, and a large wing attached above it. The tourist joked that he had ordered a “Flying Grab,” comparing the ride to the popular transport app used across Southeast Asia.
Paramotor Ride Experience
The pilot did a number of safety checks before the flight started and gave an explanation of the equipment to the passenger. Shortly thereafter, the engine began, and the plane quickly ran across the grass and then slowly lifted off.

The tourist watched the endless green rice fields, the distant mountains, and the quiet villages as he ascended the distance with the paramotor. Golden light in the evening made the landscape glow in warm hues, and the passenger took pictures of the trip with a small camera. The traveler wore a helmet and had on sunglasses and appeared calm as the aircraft glided through the peaceful sky.
Later, the pair flew over a large dam, over deep blue water. The tourist was able to see the natural beauty of Northern Thailand from the air.
Pilot Explains Safety
The trip seemed like an adventure, but the pilot explained that the aircraft was designed with professional safety in mind. He said the engine was a good one from Austria, and it was used in light aircraft.

The pilot also revealed having been trained in commercial flying prior to flying tourist flights. His experience helped the passenger feel comfortable during the journey. The tourist later said the ride felt more stable compared to paragliding experiences he had tried in other countries.
Growing Tourist Attraction
During the flight, another paramotor carrying a second passenger could also be seen nearby. This indicated that the unusual air ride is gaining popularity among tourists seeking new experiences in Thailand.
The paramotor touched down safely after a few minutes in the air. The tourist claimed the flight was one of the best experiences of his trip to Thailand.
