A TikTok video showing a massive sea turtle casually feeding beneath a marina jetty in Sentosa has captured the attention of netizens online.

The clip, posted by TikTok user @madskippers on TikTok on 26 March, showed the turtle munching on barnacles attached to the jetty at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove.
“Dude was just feeding off the barnacles”
In the video, the sea turtle could be seen swimming calmly beneath the wooden jetty while feeding on barnacles stuck to the structure.
The caption read:
“BESAR NI 🤣”
The creators also thanked another user for spotting the turtle beneath the marina.
“Thanks for spotting this huge sea turtle right beneath our feet!! Marina lads and us had a beautiful nature encounter today”

On-screen text in the clip described the encounter as a “rare” moment.
At one point, the man filming lowered his phone underwater to get a closer shot of the turtle.

Seconds later, the turtle suddenly bobbed its head above the water near the phone, causing the filmer to jokingly think it was about to bite his device.
“Thought it was gonna bite my phone”

The turtle then calmly disappeared underneath the jetty and out of sight.
Netizens Praise Respectful Encounter
Many netizens were fascinated by the encounter and praised the group for not disturbing the turtle.
One commenter wrote:

Another noted that the sea conditions appeared especially clear that day.

“water conditions are ideal”
Some commenters also shared their own experiences spotting turtles around marina areas.
“i always scrape the barnacles if i see a turtle, it will went crazy for it 🤣”
The creator later replied:
“good idea!! turtles would be so happy for the easy snacks 😍”
Others pointed out that the turtle seen in the video was likely a Hawksbill Turtle.
“That’s the Hawksbill turtle lah, and they are actually endangered. 🐢”
Hawksbill Turtles are Critically Endangered
According to National Parks Board, Hawksbill Turtles are regularly sighted along the Singapore Strait and have even been spotted coming ashore at East Coast Park to lay eggs.
The species is known for its distinctive beak-like mouth and striking shell patterns. Hawksbill Turtles usually inhabit shallow coral reefs and feed mainly on sponges and crustaceans, playing an important role in maintaining marine ecosystem balance.

However, the species is internationally recognised as critically endangered due to threats such as sea pollution, habitat loss, fishing nets, poaching, and illegal wildlife trade.
The video serves as a reminder that Singapore’s waters still support diverse marine wildlife — sometimes right beneath people’s feet.
