The Israeli Occupation Forces have detonated a seaside restaurant in southern Lebanon, posted to social media.
The video shows the popular Al-Safina, or “The Boat”, restaurant, which opened 10 years ago as part of a project aimed at boosting tourism in the town of Al-Bayada in southern Lebanon.
The restaurant was reportedly popular and beloved by tourists and locals. The restaurant’s instagram page, @vistamar____, has also posted a video of the IDF’s destruction of the restaurant.
According to the Times of Israel, the IDF has not responded when asked to comment on why the site had been destroyed, or if it contained Hezbollah infrastructure.
The IDF has insisted that it is only destroying Hezbollah infrastructure, which it says is often embedded within civilian homes – similar to the rhetoric used to justify the near total destruction of residential homes, hospitals, universities, schools, and farms in Gaza.
The destruction of an economic and touristic center in Southern Lebanon is consistent with reports from Haaretz. IDF soldiers admit that their sole mission is to “destroy everything” in Southern Lebanon. This will render the area within the “yellow line” uninhabitable for any residents who attempt to return.
The army’s plan, dubbed “Operation Silver Plow,” reportedly assigns units quotas for homes destroyed, with contractors paid per building destroyed.
They must report “how many homes [they] destroyed” each day, a soldier said.
Troops are ordered to guard them under drone threat: “We stand there, exposed… There’s no logic to this.” “The only mission is to continue the destruction,” one officer said. Another added: “It isn’t terrorist infrastructure; we’re destroying everything.”
