Located in Hangzhou, the ‘Twenty-Four Flavours’ (Er Shi Si Wei) AI Restaurant is a pioneering dining chain that integrates traditional Chinese culture with cutting-edge technology, using AI to cook and serve, as well as to provide dietary advice based on face-scanning diagnosis.
Footage filmed on Thursday shows robotic arms stir-frying ingredients, preparing and serving noodles, while another robotic unit operates an espresso machine, highlighting a blend of automation and human supervision throughout the service.
“The coffee machine works well on its own, but the noodle machine requires some human assistance,” said Miss Liu, a staff member.
The restaurant is named after the traditional ‘Twenty-Four Solar Terms,’ reflecting its commitment to the philosophy of eating in accordance with the seasons. The core of its operation is a sophisticated AI-driven kitchen.

At the core of its operations is a sophisticated AI-driven kitchen. By digitising traditional recipes into precise algorithms, the restaurant uses intelligent cooking robots to control heat, timing and ingredients with a high degree of accuracy.
The restaurant also features an ‘AI Face Diagnosis’ system that scans customers’ faces to assess health indicators, providing detailed analysis and personalised dietary recommendations.

“We had a visitor from abroad […] It turned out that he was among the few adults with a top-three health score. It’s quite rare because most adults nowadays are in a sub-health state, but his rating was very healthy,” Miss Liu added.
The technology-driven approach ensures consistent taste across locations while improving efficiency and reducing labour costs.
