Official Meeting and Ceremony

Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov met with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun in Moscow on Friday.

Footage shows the commander of the guard of honour saluting and reporting to the ministers.

Strategic Co-operation and Global Context

“Bilateral military co-operation is becoming particularly important in the context of an ever-changing military and political landscape. It is a key element of both regional and global security. Today’s talks will enable us to align our positions and determine the next steps within the framework of our strategic co-operation,” Belousov said.

He also said that regular contact between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping had played a special role in the relationship between the two countries.

Strengthening Ties in 2026

Meanwhile, Dong Jun said that 2026 was a ‘very important time’ for developing relations in defence co-operation.

“That is why a number of important high-level events are planned for this year. And we are ready, together with you and guided by the agreements reached by our leaders, to make full use of every opportunity to strengthen strategic co-ordination and expand mutually beneficial co-operation,” he added.
