Shared by TikTok user @prabhu140387, the clips show a community of people of Indian heritage roller skating together along walkways and cycling paths by the beach. Some participants skate in everyday sportswear, while others including women are seen confidently gliding in traditional attires, as well as sarees.

The videos display captions that include “King of Rollers” and “Queen of Rollers,” and portray a festive and joyful atmosphere in the event.

A Celebration on Wheels

The skaters move through the paved coastal paths in an organized way while they maintain a relaxed pace. The skaters perform their cheers and balance exercises while they show their traditional clothing to the spectators who watch the group pass.

The group directly combines fitness, fun and cultural expression to create an outdoor skating event that became special because of its holiday scheduling.

Marking Pongal and Republic Day

Pongal is a major harvest festival celebrated by Tamil communities, usually observed in January as a thanksgiving for prosperity and abundance. India’s Republic Day, marked annually on January 26, commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1950.

By combining both occasions into a public skating event, the group appeared to be celebrating heritage in a way that was both visible and inclusive. With this they were bringing culture into shared public spaces without disrupting others.

Positive Reactions Online

Comments on the videos have been largely supportive, with viewers praising the skaters’ confidence, balance, and sense of community.

While no official event details were shared, the videos themselves tell a simple story: a community coming together, celebrating tradition, and doing so on wheels — smoothly, confidently, and with smiles all around.
