In Singapore’s housing market, where space constraints and costly renovations are a challenge for many families, a house in Pasir Ris has sparked a new wave of thinking. The owner has provided a practical example of how to transform a typical HDB unit into a family-centric, child-friendly and open environment.

Opening the door to their own home, they showed that with planning and the right decisions, it is possible to create a space of comfort and joy even in limited space.
The Beginning of the Plan
The kid’s parents bought this house for about S$850,000. As the family’s needs have changed over time, it was recently renovated at a cost of about S$80,000. From the beginning, the goal was to create an open environment.

Therefore, the emphasis was on an open concept design by removing unnecessary walls. This has made it easier for light and air to circulate inside the house.
Child-Friendly Design
Since the family has young children, their safety and enjoyment have been given special importance. That is why a play area was created inside the house. As part of the renovation plan, a slide has been added to the house so that children can run and play safely.

As a result, children are able to spend time indoors without going outside. This has also been a source of mental comfort for parents.
Open Veranda Idea
Since both the husband and wife are nature lovers, they decided to have an open veranda with the house. This veranda brings the atmosphere of the outdoors into the house. Sitting here, they can spend time with family and friends. This part adds a kind of tranquility even in the busy city.

Family Gathering Center
The big sofa in the living room has emerged as the most favorite place in the house. This is where everyone sits together and watches movies or talks. According to the owner, this place plays the most important role in bringing the whole family together. Therefore, this sofa has been considered the best investment when buying furniture.

Piece of Advice
From the owner’s own experience, she advised that it is important to research well before renovating and plan the space according to the needs of the family. She also said to have confidence in the entire process.
Netizen’s Reaction
After watching the video of this house, many netizens think that such a house will be ideal if a situation like lockdown occurs again in the future.

According to them, there is no chance of boredom for children in such a home and this is a truly commendable initiative.
