Singaporean in Tbilisi Captures Busker Playing ‘Majulah Singapura’
A Singaporean travelling in Tbilisi, Georgia, has recorded a street musician performing ‘Majulah Singapura’ — touching viewers around the world and reigniting pride among Singaporeans online.

The TikTok video, uploaded by Ahmad Iskandar Abdullah (@/i_s_ky) on 17 December, shows an uncle playing the national anthem on an accordion in the Georgian capital.
The video is captioned,
‘Georgian: “Where are you from?”
Me: “Singapore”
Georgian: “You have the no. 1 passport in the world”
Georgian: Surprised me with his own rendition of Majulah Singapura…Respect 🫡’

The performance has sparked a wave of heartfelt reactions — from praise for the musician’s skill, to playful calls for him to be invited to Singapore’s National Day Parade.

This moment mirrors a similar video from two years ago, when another Singaporean tourist encountered the Georgia busker confidently playing the anthem.
The Video: Majulah Singapura rings out in Tbilisi
The clip by @/i_s_ky shows the busker performing a recognisable rendition of Singapore’s national anthem on his accordion.

Standing outdoors with his instrument, the musician plays confidently and fluently — note after note landing clearly, surprising viewers that someone so far from Singapore knows the anthem well enough to perform it on the street.

The uncle delivers the melody smoothly, leaving many in awe and admiration.
In the last seconds of the video, you can hear the busker repeating “Singapura… Singapura…” twice at the end — echoing what viewers described made the moment even more meaningful.
Viewers React: Pride, Nostalgia & the NDP
The comment section quickly filled up with Singaporeans calling the video:

“Touching”
“Woww”
“Uncle plays well”
“This is so random but beautiful”
Many joked they were instinctively reaching into imaginary pockets to tip him:

“bruh im not even there im reaching out in my pockets to tip him”
Others urged generosity:

“u btr give him a big tip for that 😊”
Some even floated ideas about elevating him to national stage status:

“Someone send him to sg for National Day parade”
“What if, we invite him to NDP 2026?”
Viewers also drew parallels to encounters elsewhere:

“I met one in Estonia who knows our National Anthem too. 😊”
Another Singaporean shared a familiar moment:

“Same thing happened to me at Sanssouci Palace in Germany hahaha the flutist just played Majulah Singapura off the top of his head, mad skills”
Others emphasised representation:

“SINGAPORE MENTIONED”
And of course, love for the musician poured in:

“Beautiful”
“Must really give a like!!!!!”
“awww this is so wholesome”
Travel Talk: How do you even get to Georgia from Singapore?
The video unexpectedly sparked a new discussion thread beneath it. One person asked:
“This is random but whats the best way to get to Georgia from SG?”

@/i_s_ky then explained several travel options from Singapore:
“Big airlines like Qatar/Emirates/Turkish… another option you can try Air Asia to Kazakhstan/Almaty… you can see see Kazakh then fly in via Air Astana 😊”
Earlier Singapore–Georgia Busker Moment
This new video feels almost identical to one reported on in 2023, where another Georgian street musician played ‘Majulah Singapura’ on an accordion.
In that older clip, a Singaporean tourist handed the musician a red S$10 note and €5 — saying it was all the cash he had.
Today’s Tbilisi video continues that same emotional thread: random paths overseas turning into places where Singaporeans hear home.
Singapore Beyond the Little Red Dot
This moment is simple — but powerful. Hearing ‘Majulah Singapura’ overseas is deeply emotional: it’s about identity, longing, familiarity, and surprise.

That feeling explains the comments, the jokes, the pride, the NDP invitations, and the sudden travel planning. It reminds Singaporeans that home can appear in the most unexpected places, even on a quiet street in Tbilisi.
And sometimes, all it takes is one man, one accordion, and two words sung twice:
“Singapura. Singapura.”
