On 27 October, Elijah Wood, who played Frodo Baggins in ‘Lord of the Rings’, made a surprise appearance at a couple’s wedding—in the very Shire where his movie story began.

The entire venue was instantly filled with surprise and excitement.
The Surprise Guest ‘Frodo’
A video posted on Hobbiton’s official TikTok account shows a wedding ceremony taking place on the famous set in Matamata, New Zealand. Elijah Wood suddenly enters the venue with a photographer. When the bride and groom see him, they both scream, “Oh my God!”

Wearing a simple jacket, jeans, and sneakers, Wood says with a smile, “This is great! Everyone is dressed as Hobbits!”
26 Years Later, in the Shire
In 1999, the shooting of the film The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring began in this very place, directed by Peter Jackson.

Frodo’s return to the same place after 26 years is like a chapter in the movie. That film once made Wood a world-famous actor, winning four Oscars.

That Memorable Moment
Arriving at the wedding stage, Wood took pictures with the newlyweds, and even when the groom thanked him, Wood smiled and took another selfie.

The guests still couldn’t believe that their favorite character was really standing in front of them. The caption of the Hobbiton TikTok video was “An unforgettable wedding in The Shire.”

The Shire: From a Fantasy Village to a Real Dreamland
The ‘Shire’ of Tolkien’s fantasy was the peaceful village of the hobbits. From that idea, director Jackson transformed this region of New Zealand into a dream world.

Although the set was originally planned to be demolished, it was preserved as a permanent attraction in 2002 due to tourist interest. Even today, new couples fulfill their dreams of a ‘Hobbiton wedding’ there.
