SG Road Vigilante, a Facebook page well-known for sharing road incidents in the nation, recently shared a video showing a migrant worker jumping off a lorry to pick up a backpack in the middle of the road.

In the footage, the man is observed noticing the bag, jumping down to retrieve it, and placing it safely on a grassy road verge.

The obstacle on the road could potentially cause an accident or damage to passing cars, and the worker’s thoughtful gesture won praise online. The person who reported the incident to the page mentioned that one car had already run over the bag and needed to suddenly brake.

Risking his safety, he made a selfless decision for the greater good. The incident took place on 16 October at 6:55 p.m.

‘While driving today, I noticed a large backpack lying on the right side of the road. It was quite dangerous — one car even ran over it, causing the vehicle behind to brake suddenly.
Amid the situation, a foreign worker in front of me jumped out of his lorry without hesitation and quickly moved the backpack to the roadside, preventing any further accidents.
Such a helpful and courageous act — a big thank you to him for stepping up and keeping everyone safe!’“

The post has since garnered over 2000 views and more than a hundred shares, with dozens of comments applauding the man’s effort.
