A 32-year-old schoolteacher in India has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 12-year-old son after he spoke out against her romantic relationship with another man.
According to reports, the child’s body was later dumped and set on fire with help from her partner, who is currently on the run.
Body Found Near Village Bridge One Day After Incident
The disturbing case took place on June 14 in Patna, a district in the Indian state of Bihar.
The woman, Roma Kumari, is accused of fatally beating her son, Shreyansh, after he objected to her ongoing affair with Nirmal Paswan, a school principal.
The argument turned violent, and the boy died as a result of the beating.
Tried to Conceal the Crime by Burning the Body
Police said that Roma and her partner then tried to conceal the crime by transporting the child’s body to a remote area near Konhar bridge, in Bedhna village, and setting it on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
The burnt remains were discovered by police the following day, on June 15.
Teacher Arrested, Partner Still Missing
Authorities arrested Roma on June 19 in her native town, Araria, while her partner, Nirmal Paswan, remains at large.
Police: Boy Was Killed After Objecting to Mother’s Affair
According to Times of India, Rural Superintendent of Police Vikram Sihag, the child had objected to his mother’s ongoing relationship, which led to a violent reaction from her.
The assault turned deadly, resulting in the boy’s death.

Investigators believe that afterward, Roma and her partner, Nirmal Paswan, transported the body to a secluded spot near Konhar bridge in Bedhna village, where they allegedly dumped the remains in nearby shrubs and set them on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
The Two Met at a Training Programme
Paswan is a principal at a teacher training programme at a college in Rohtas, another district in Bihar.
The two allegedly met during a training event and began a relationship that sparked tensions at home.
Child Had Been Opposing His Mother’s Relationship
Investigators revealed that Roma’s marital life had broken down, and her regular visits to Paswan had caused concern among her children.
Shreyansh had reportedly started questioning his mother’s relationship, leading to regular conflicts at home.
Police believe the fatal assault occurred during one of these confrontations.
Investigation Ongoing as Authorities Track Suspect
Police continue their efforts to locate and arrest Nirmal Paswan, who is suspected of helping to dispose of the body.
