Man Offers Ride to Disabled M’sian in Rain, Uncovers Painful Life Behind the Smile

In late June 2025, a video surfaced on TikTok showing a man named Jefree—missing his left leg—hobbling alone on crutches through pouring rain in Slim Village, Perak. He was on a simple yet painful mission: to get food.

Visibly soaked and limping, Jefree hesitated when a passing driver offered help, saying, “I’m dirty, sir… I’ll mess up your car.” But with gentle persuasion, he accepted the ride.

They shared a warm meal, and the stranger even bought him groceries to bring home.

What touched many was how a man with so little still tried to manage alone.

A Heartbreaking Video—But Not the Whole Truth

As the video went viral, Jefree claimed that he had no family and that his parents had died in a fire—implying he was entirely on his own. His home appeared bare, unfurnished, and without electricity.

But soon after, those close to him stepped in to clarify the facts. Instagram page Storiemy, which had initially shared the clip, revealed that there had been some misunderstanding during the filming. While it’s true that Jefree’s parents have passed on, their deaths were not due to a fire. And crucially, Jefree is not alone—he has siblings who are still caring for him.

“He has been through a tough time mentally, but his siblings continue to support him,” Storiemy said, adding that the entire kampung community has been trying to help Jefree for years, even when he faced personal struggles.

Support Already Given, Family Grateful

In addition to family and village support, there has been official aid. On July 3, Malaysian preacher and entrepreneur Ebit Lew shared that Jefree’s brother had received zakat assistance amounting to RM300 from the Perak Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPk). This confirms that the family had received some financial help to support Jefree’s needs.

While the public’s response has been overwhelmingly generous, the family stressed that they do not require any donations at this time. “Your prayers and kind wishes are more than enough,” they said.

Please, No More Visits

The wave of attention, while well-meaning, has begun to overwhelm the village. Crowds have reportedly been showing up at Jefree’s house, unintentionally disrupting daily life. His family has gently urged the public to stop visiting and to allow them some privacy and peace.
