A regular dinner turned into a horrifying ordeal for diners at a KFC outlet in Sitiawan, Perak, when a white Volvo SUV suddenly slammed into the restaurant on Thursday night (May 8, 2025).

The violent crash claimed the life of an elderly woman and left seven others, including a child, injured.
SUV Crashes Through Restaurant
The incident happened at around 9.05 pm at a KFC outlet along Jalan Haji Mohd Ali.
According to authorities, the SUV, a Volvo, veered out of control near a traffic light junction before crashing through the restaurant.
The impact caused chaos inside the packed dining area.

Elderly Woman Pinned Under the Vehicle
A woman in her 70s, who was dining at the restaurant, was pinned beneath the SUV during the crash.
Bystanders rushed to help and managed to pull her out from under the vehicle.

Nine Firefighters Arrived at the Scene
Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, said nine firefighters from the Seri Manjung Fire and Rescue Station responded to the scene and assisted Ministry of Health medical officers in treating the injured.

The rescue operation was brought under control by 9.30 pm and officially ended at 9.49 pm, Berita Harian reports.
Seven Others Injured, Driver Sustained Minor Injuries
According to The Sun, eight people were injured in the incident.
Seven of them ranged in age from 5 to 38 and were all taken to Hospital Seri Manjung (HSM) for treatment.

The driver of the SUV, a 29-year-old man, suffered only minor injuries and is currently in police custody to assist with investigations.

One Woman Dies at Hospital
Rescuers quickly rushed the elderly woman, who had been pinned beneath the SUV, to the emergency department at Hospital Seri Manjung in hopes of saving her life.
However, she died in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at around 11 pm, Kosmo reports.
Investigation Underway
Following this, the case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
