A lorry driver in Malaysia was injured after being attacked by a black panther on Thursday, 3 April 2025.
The attack happened at around 3:30 pm while he had pulled over along Jalan Bukit Tangga-Seremban in Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia to urinate near a forested area.
Wild Encounter on a Routine Stop
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was alone when the panther suddenly appeared from the nearby woods and attacked him. According to BERNAMA, the wild animal targeted his head before quickly running back into the forest.
The driver was later taken to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban for treatment and thankfully, doctors confirmed that he is now in stable condition and recovering from his injuries.

Panther Seen on Dashcam Footage
Shortly after the incident, a 16-second dashcam video began making rounds on social media. The clip showed the black panther darting back into the trees, running away from the man after attacking him.

Authorities’ Response
Faizal Izham Pikri, the director of the Negeri Sembilan Wildlife Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), shared that the department was alerted about the incident at 6:14 pm on the day of the attack.
In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRES) has increased patrols in the area to ensure public safety and keep an eye on wildlife activity.

Perhilitan also paid a visit to the victim in the hospital, offering support through the Wildlife Attack Relief Fund.

The department believes the panther likely came from a nearby forest, which is part of a wildlife area where animals frequently roam.
Public Urged to Stay Alert in Wildlife Zones
Perhilitan director Faizal Izham Pikri reminded everyone to be extra careful when traveling through areas close to natural habitats and to contact authorities if there are encounters with wildlife animals.
