A man from Staten Island, New York was arrested after allegedly raping his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter and assaulting the child’s mother when she tried to intervene.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Dominique Giles, was reportedly caught in the act on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at around 5:38 a.m. inside a residence near Richmond Terrace and Sharpe Avenue.
Child’s Mother Caught Him in the Act
According to court documents, the child’s mother walked in to find Giles with his pants down and immediately attempted to call 911.
Prosecutors also stated that Giles reacted by allegedly choking and punching the woman, preventing her from speaking to the emergency operator.
She reportedly experienced difficulty breathing, vomited, and was unable to ask for help.
Suspect Assaults Mother Before Fleeing
Following the attack, Giles allegedly stole the woman’s phone and money before fleeing the scene.
The child was quickly taken to Richmond University Medical Center for medical evaluation. Her mother suffered bruises on her face and back from the assault.
Authorities were alerted, and the NYPD Fugitive Task Force launched a search for Giles by releasing his mugshot. He was eventually tracked down in Manhattan and arrested on Friday, 31st January 2025.
Charged with 19 Offenses
Giles has been charged with 19 offenses, including multiple counts of rape, sexual abuse, assault, robbery, strangulation, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was charged in Staten Island Criminal Court, where a judge set his bail at $250,000 cash (approx. S$333,631).
