There are countless ways to approach parenting, and each parent has their methods for guiding their children. Often, these methods involve a mix of patience, encouragement, and discipline. However, in the digital age, some parenting moments can end up being shared publicly, for better or worse.
In a now-deleted TikTok video posted by user @/bluecat_ivu, a distressing scene unfolded that has since stirred significant controversy online. The video depicted a woman, publicly criticizing her daughter while trying to teach her math.
Verbal Assault and Physical Gestures
In the video, the woman’s frustration was evident as she struggled to explain a math problem to her daughter. Her anger escalated as her daughter struggled to answer, leading to increasingly harsh remarks.
At one point, she berated her daughter for not using her brain and implied that her daughter’s intelligence was lacking. Her anger was further expressed through physical gestures, including slamming her hand on the table and snatching away the homework, scolding her more.
The Disturbing Climax and Public Reactions
The video reached a disturbing peak when the woman used foul language, declaring that she would tell everyone how “f***ing stupid” her daughter was.
This outburst was not just humiliating for her daughter but it also led to a strong reaction from viewers who saw the video before it was taken down.
The video has also circulated on platforms like Reddit, where many resonated with it by sharing their own experiences of being raised by strict parents.
The video garnered a range of comments reflecting a variety perspectives on parenting. One viewer noted, “Tiger mums are super common. This one just happened to make the news.”
Another user shared a critical view, saying, “Hard truth, a lot of SG mums are like that in private,” raising concerns about how common this behavior might be.
In response, a mom shared her own experience and mentioned that more parents in Singapore are now using respectful and gentle parenting methods, focusing on understanding and caring for their children.
