The search for 23-year-old singer Muhammad Nidza Afham Mokhtar ended tragically on Wednesday evening when his body was discovered beneath the Sungai Klang Bridge. Nidza, who gained popularity through the reality show I Can See Your Voice 3 and his single “Ternyata Bukan Aku,” had been missing since Tuesday night (13 Aug 2024) after going for a jog.
The Disappearance
Nidza Afham left his home in Bandar Puteri, Klang, on Tuesday, Aug 13, at 7:45 pm, using an e-hailing service to reach the Sultan Sulaiman Stadium for his usual evening jog. His last known communication was at 9:04 pm when he sent a text message to his girlfriend Miera.
As reported by The Star, when subsequent attempts to contact him failed, his family grew increasingly concerned. By 11:53 pm, his location was traced to the new Sungai Klang Bridge, where his phone and wallet were later found, but Nidza remained missing.
Public Plea for Assistance
Nidza’s sister, Afrina Hanie Mokhtar (Efa), took to social media to seek help from the public, expressing her worry through a heartfelt post on X.
“My brother, Nidza Afham, is missing. The last location of his phone and wallet was found on the Klang River bridge (beside the new bridge),” she wrote.
Efa clarified that no signs of disputes or any involvement with loan sharks were found on Nidza’s phone, dispelling any rumors that might have arisen. According to Sinar Daily, his siblings filed a police report at 4:22 am on Wednesday, which led to a full-scale search across Klang.
The Discovery
Nidza’s body was found around 7 pm on Wednesday, Aug 14, at Jalan Tepi Sungai, Sungai Kolok, near Sungai Klang Bridge. The identification of the body was confirmed by Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, who stated, “The body was found around 7 pm (Wednesday) and has been confirmed as the individual reported missing.”
The untimely death of Nidza Afham has shocked and saddened his family, friends, and fans. Known for his talent and promising future in the Malaysian music industry, Nidza had only just begun to make his career. Authorities are still looking into the details of his death to understand what led to this situation. Nidza’s sister, however, suspects that a robbery might have gone wrong, as his cash and bank card were missing from the items found with his body.
Her brother’s body has been taken to Shah Alam Hospital, and they are still awaiting the results of the autopsy. He will be laid to rest following the Zohor prayers, and the autopsy results are expected to be available around 3-4 p.m., after the Asr prayers.
