On 11 June 2022, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a 10-minute speech via video conference at the 19th Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. In his speech, the President referred to a quote from the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew relating to the international order. You may watch the full speech at the link below.

T-Shirt designed by a Singaporean

During his speech, Zelenskyy wore a black t-shirt which featured the design of a young Singaporean, Ms Ava Soh.

Ava, who founded Daughters of the Revolution (DOTR) when she was 14, illustrated this NFT titled “Spray Paint Ukraine”.

She describes the NFT in the following terms:

It’s a young Ukrainian girl defiantly painting a new future. It’s illustrated in the style of self-belief is the best middle finger to oppression. Why a young girl? Because half the world are women, and the other half, sons.

This NFT is supposed to be a wearable one, and DOTR will be producing 1,000 t-shirts with the design. It is priced at SGD 130 each, and may be purchased at this link.

All proceeds from the sales of the NFTs and the T-shirts will be donated to the Ukrainian Embassy in Singapore.

A proud father

In a Facebook post dated 11 June 2022, Calvin Soh, Ava’s father shared how Zelenskyy referred to his daughter’s initiative when he spoke about “believing in what can be possible”.

In response to a comment from a well-wisher, Calvin shared that they “didn’t know about it at all”.
