On Thursday, 24 April 2025, a woman was removed from an American Airlines flight in São Paulo after she allegedly tried to enter the cockpit to confront the pilot about the plane’s delay.
Flight AA950 was scheduled to depart from Guarulhos International Airport and head to New York’s JFK Airport.
Passenger Approached Cockpit Area During Delay
According to reports, the woman walked to the front of the aircraft and approached the cockpit area just as one of the pilots was returning from the restroom.
Cabin crew who witnessed the situation treated it as an attempt to access the cockpit and immediately intervened.

Incident Captured by Fellow Passengers
Passengers recorded the incident. It showed the woman taken to the ground by a flight attendant near the open cockpit door.
During the altercation, she reportedly shouted at a crew member in Portuguese, threatening to “kick him in the balls.”
Verbal Fight Broke Out Between Passengers
As the situation became more intense, another passenger seated at seat 1D suddenly stood up barefoot and began yelling.

The Daily Mail reported that the woman then began shouting again while being restrained by two crew members, saying she had only wanted to know the reason for the delay.
As she was escorted back to her seat, she engaged in a shouting match with the male passenger.

She continued shouting and used vulgar insults, including homophobic slurs.

Another male flight attendant attempted to calm the man down.

Two Passengers Removed from the Flight
According to Aeroin, both the woman and the male passenger in 1D, along with their travel companions, were removed from the flight, and the plane had to return to the boarding gate following the disturbance.
American Airlines Responds
In a statement, American Airlines stated that the flight had to return to the gate before takeoff due to a safety issue on board. They further stressed that the safety of passengers and crew is their top priority.

Flight Departure Delayed by Over Two Hours
The flight eventually departed at 12:55 a.m., more than two hours later than originally scheduled, the NY Post reported.
Police were present when the plane returned to the gate, though it is still unclear whether any of the removed passengers will face charges.
