On Sunday evening, December 22, a violent confrontation occurred in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India.
A 21-year-old woman attacked her long-time partner with a sharp-edged weapon, severing his genitals.
A Relationship Under Strain
The couple, both from Charthawal village, had been romantically involved for nearly a decade.
However, their relationship faced significant challenges when the woman discovered her partner was set to marry another woman.
Feeling betrayed, she reportedly invited him to meet her for the last time. The man agreed to meet, but their conversation escalated into a heated argument.
In a fit of anger, the woman attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. In her distress, she then tried to harm herself by slashing her wrist.
Both of them sustained injuries during the incident.
Familial Opposition as the Trigger
According to residents, the man’s family opposed their relationship and arranged his marriage to someone else, which ultimately triggered the confrontation.
Conflicting Accounts of the Attack
Police were notified about the incident at approximately 4:30 PM on Sunday. However, the exact location of the attack remains unclear.
While the woman claims it occurred inside a hotel room, the man alleges it happened in a car.
Investigators are currently working to piece together the timeline of events and confirm where the attack occurred.
Both Receiving Treatment and Police Investigation Ongoing
Following the incident, police rushed both individuals to the district hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
While the man is being treated for severe injuries, the woman is recovering from self-inflicted wounds to her wrist.
Authorities have detained the woman and are questioning her as part of the ongoing investigation.
