The wedding featured personal touches that reflected their commitment to this cause. Each table displayed a photo of the couple along with a QR code, encouraging guests to donate to a Gaza Aid fund organized by Love Aid Singapore.
This thoughtful gesture not only celebrated their love but also connected their joyful occasion to the struggles faced by people in need.
A Meaningful Speech
During the ceremony, the bride delivered a heartfelt speech that touched the hearts of many guests.
She began by recognizing the joy and love surrounding them on a special day but stressed the importance of taking a moment to remember the Palestinians who are facing ongoing genocide and are unable to celebrate the day as they are celebrating.
She then shared her heartfelt solidarity with the Palestinian people, stating, “Our hearts are with the people of Palestine, who even after enduring so much pain, loss, and hardship, continue to hold on to their dreams of freedom, peace, and love.”
She then encouraged everyone to count their blessings and appreciate the love that brings them together. She emphasized the importance of working towards a world where everyone can live in peace and dignity.
Love Aid Singapore
The couple’s dedication did not go unnoticed. Social activist Gilbert Goh, the founder of Love Aid Singapore, an initiative focused on organizing humanitarian aid trips for refugees from the Middle East, praised their efforts. For several years, Goh has supported displaced communities, particularly in places like Gaza.
He mentioned how the couple transformed a personal event into a message of solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Goh noted that while they could have simply followed traditional wedding practices without any criticism, their decision to go the extra mile was truly a significant step forward for humanity.
Goh also reflected on how this experience has inspired other couples to consider similar gestures, suggesting that it could lead to a new trend where love and compassion come together in meaningful ways.
