A street food vendor in Malaysia is drawing attention for his story of family life and hard work. Zulkrina, who sells apam balik, travels each day in an old van with his wife and their two young children. The family works together to earn a living, even as they face daily challenges.
A Life on the Road
The family’s van is both a transport and a kitchen. It is old, with a broken back door and very little space inside. Every morning, Zulkrina carefully loads cooking tools and supplies into the vehicle. His wife sits in front with their children as they move from place to place to set up their stall.

They usually work under a small red tent. There, they prepare and sell apam balik, a popular local pancake snack. Zulkrina says this routine is part of their everyday life, and they continue with whatever resources they have.
Health Challenges at Home
The family’s situation is made more difficult by health issues affecting their children. Their youngest son was diagnosed with leukemia when he was just seven months old. Now three years old, he continues to receive regular chemotherapy treatment.

Their seven-year-old daughter also requires special care. She has difficulty speaking and understanding clearly. Despite these challenges, both parents continue working daily while caring for their children’s needs.

Zulkrina’s wife, often seen wearing a green apron at the stall, remains focused on her responsibilities. She explains that she tries to stay calm and strong for the sake of her children.
Working Together Each Day
Zulkrina describes his wife as his main support. He says she has stood by him through many difficult times. The couple shares tasks at work and at home, managing both business and family life together.

They do not have many comforts, but they continue to work side by side. Their daily routine shows how they manage limited resources while supporting their children’s health and future.
The family’s story has been noticed by many who pass by their stall. Through their work, they continue to provide for their household while facing ongoing challenges in their daily lives.
