The Strange Robbery Call in South-Western Bangladesh
On 30 March, in a bizarre turn of events in Jhenaidah, Bangladesh, a thief made an unexpected call to the owner of a local pharmacy after committing the crime.
After stealing valuable items and medicines, the thief called the victim late at night and asked why the register had so little cash despite a busy day of sales.

Initially, the pharmacy owner, Harendranath Saha, dismissed the call as a prank or some sort of misunderstanding.
The Call That Raised Suspicion
The strange phone call left Saha confused and doubtful, while raising his suspicions. The thief, far from trying to cover their tracks, sounded disgruntled, hinting that they had expected more cash after the bustling sales of the day.

The phone conversation ended with the thief leaving the pharmacy owner puzzled but with no clearer information about the details of the crime. Saha initially did not take the call seriously, thinking it was simply a bizarre mistake.
Discovery of the Theft
However, after further inspection the following morning, Saha discovered that the pharmacy had been thoroughly robbed. In addition to the meager amount of cash missing from the register, a variety of high-value medicines and other products had also been stolen.

The realization that the call was, in fact, made by the thief themselves confirmed that the situation was even stranger than first thought.
Police Investigate the Unusual Robbery
As the police began their investigation, they were perplexed by the carelessness displayed by the thief.

The authorities are working tirelessly to trace the thief’s whereabouts, using the unusual phone call as a critical lead in solving the case. The pharmacy’s CCTV footage and other evidence are also being reviewed to track down the individual responsible for the theft.
Public Reactions and Reactions to the Call
Local residents have been left stunned by the sheer oddity of the thief’s actions.
People reacted with sarcasm and amusement.
‘The pharmacy owner has no idea of the myriad efforts the thief had put in to steal 😟 After all this trouble and finding such little cash, it’s already a lot that the thief only called, instead of screaming profanities’
‘🤧🤧 The store owner has made a huge mistake’
‘These days, incidents are both horrifying and entertaining.’
‘The store owner: “I have made a grave mistake, please forgive me.”‘
Many are finding humor in the thief’s apparent dissatisfaction with the take from the robbery.
Authorities Call for Increased Vigilance
In light of this unusual incident, authorities have urged local businesses to be more vigilant in securing their premises, particularly after hours. The robbery has highlighted gaps in security that could make small businesses vulnerable to similar crimes.
Police are also advising shop owners to take extra care and ensure their stores are locked and secured, even during busy times.
