On the morning of April 5, 2025, a 32-year-old man, identified as Thakorn, became enraged after receiving a plate of Pad Thai that contained chives, despite explicitly requesting the vendor not to include them.
The incident took place at a convenience store in Chon Buri’s Na Pa subdistrict, Thailand, where Thakorn, in a fit of rage, ended up stabbing himself in the leg with a knife.
The Incident Unfolds
According to reports, police were notified around 10:30 AM when a man was seen entering a convenience store, bleeding heavily from a wound on his leg and carrying a knife.
Officers from the Mueang Chon Buri Police Station rushed to the scene, where they found Thakorn with a knife wound on his left leg. Blood trailed behind him, leading to chaos inside the store.
Fortunately, police were able to safely disarm Thakorn and calm him down before rescue teams arrived.
Thakorn’s Explanation, The Vendor Still Demanded Payment
In a report by Channel 7, Thakorn revealed that his outburst was triggered by a misunderstanding over his food order. He had specifically asked the vendor to leave out chives from his Pad Thai, but when the dish arrived with them, he became furious.
Thakorn refused the dish and threw it away, but the vendor still demanded payment, which further fueled his anger. In his frustration, he stabbed his own leg.
No Signs of Drug Use
Thakorn’s employer, Thanakornpoj, shared his surprise at the incident, noting that it happened on payday and was completely out of character for Thakorn. Thanakornpoj added that Thakorn was not under the influence of any drugs at the time, which made his behavior even more concerning.
Despite his aggressive actions, Thakorn did not harm anyone else, though he was waving the knife and shouting during the episode.
Rescue and Medical Attention
Emergency responders from the Thammarat Samaneerat Foundation provided first aid to Thakorn at the scene before transferring him to Chon Buri Hospital for further treatment.
The extent of his injuries was described as severe, with the knife wound causing significant bleeding in his leg.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are currently investigating the cause of Thakorn’s behavior. While the trigger appears to have been the argument over the Pad Thai, authorities are still working to understand why he reacted so violently.
Legal action will be pursued once the investigation is completed.
