Autumn in South Korea means a different form of nature where mountains wrapped in a carpet of red, orange, and yellow, valleys full of flowers, and misty dawns. Exploring different parts of the country during this season is an eye-opening experience.

Let’s take a look at six unique destinations in autumn where you will be filled with the beauty of nature.

Hapcheon Sports Park: A touch of enchantment in the colors of autumn

Hapchon Sinseong Sports Park turns into an unearthly scene in autumn. The red, orange, and yellow colors on the leaves of the trees are like a living painting. Walking along the winding paths, the mind gets lost in the gentle breeze.

Walking, cycling, or rock climbing—all can be done in this vast park. Spending a day here in the soft light and light cold of autumn is like complete happiness.

Seoul Olympic Park: A meeting place for history and culture

Carrying the legacy of the 1988 Olympic Games, Seoul Olympic Park is today an unprecedented combination of history, sports, and art.

There are two parts in the park. For instance, the Sports Zone and the Mangcheongnam-do Historic Area. Various sports and cultural events are held every day at facilities such as the KSPO Dome, Handball Stadium, and Uri Art Hall.

On the other hand, the Mangcheongnam-do area is home to ancient Baekje civilization relics, mud houses, and tombs. There are also numerous beautiful spots for taking photos.

Yeongwol Red Buckwheat Flower Field: A Sea of Red Flowers

Every year in October, the village of Meokgol in Yeongwol County transforms into a kingdom of red flowers. Although buckwheat flowers are usually white, the flowers here are dark pink and reddish.

Local people arrange festivals during this time, where tourists from home and abroad flock to see this colorful festival of nature.

Hapcheon Hwangmaesan: The Call of the Quiet Mountain

Located on the border of Gahoe-myeon and Daebyeong-myeon in Hapcheon, Huangmyesan Mountain is 1,113 meters high. The beauty of this mountain is still intact, as it has been off the tourist trail for many years.

From the rocky peak surrounded by royal azaleas and pine trees, you can see Hapcheonho Lake and Jirisan, Deogyusan, and Gayasan Mountains. It is a heavenly destination for hiking enthusiasts.

Cheonan Pines Cafe: A Cup of Coffee in the Land of Pink Grass

Pines Cafe in Cheonan City is now one of the most attractive places for autumn travel spots. Pink mulberry grass blooms across the vast field behind the cafe, creating a picture-perfect scene.

It is a dream destination for Instagram-loving travelers. It is about an hour’s drive from Seoul, so it is ideal for a short day trip.

Danyang Dodam Sambong: Three Peaks of Nature’s Poetry

Danyang’s Dodam Sambong is a series of three conical limestone peaks that stand on the banks of the Namhangang River. This place is a source of inspiration for poets and artists for centuries.

It is said that Jeong Do-jeon, who contributed to the establishment of the Joseon Dynasty, was inspired here and named his pen name “Sambong” after the mountain. The reflection of the calm river and mountains creates a dreamy beauty here.
