A video showing a Singaporean man harassing a deaf Grab driver has gone viral after being shared on the popular Instagram account @sgfollowsall.backup. The 8-second clip has ignited widespread condemnation from the online community. The man initially captioned the video with an offensive remark, “hahahahaah fker the driver deaf.”
Details of the Incident
In the video, the man can be heard using offensive language towards the driver. At the beginning of the video, he says, “Oi, fucking chinky cunt. Oi, fuck.”
A few seconds later, while in the driver was busy driving, he proceeded to harass him, “Hey, your mother gay. Your mother gay.”
Public Reaction
The video quickly spread across social media platforms, with many users expressing anger and disappointment. As Imran’s Instagram account has been made private, most of the backlash is now directed toward the @sgfollowsall.backup account comment section that initially shared the video.
One user, sarcastically commented, “‘Your mother gay’ I guess his dad didn’t come back with a milk from the store.” This comment uses a common internet meme to mock his immature behavior in the video.
Another user added, “Bro never got punched in the face before,” suggesting that the person’s actions might stem from never having faced real consequences for their behavior.
Meanwhile, one commenter sarcastically remarked, “Wowwwwww how cool of you broooooo,” clearly mocking the individual in the video for their actions.
Netizens were very quick to identify the perpetrator. The man has been identified as Imran (@imrankhairul_ on Instagram) and his account has been private since.
Response from Grab and Police Report
As of now, Grab has not released an official statement regarding the incident. A user also has reported that a police report has been made concerning the incident.
This development indicates that the authorities are now involved, and further action may be taken against the perpetrator. The video emphasizes how some people mistreat service workers, reminding us all of the crucial need to treat everyone with dignity and respect, regardless of their job or abilities.
