A transcript of the video, which was addressed to Singaporeans, is set out below:-
Dear Singaporeans,
Dear International Community,
Dear Ukrainians,
We, Ukrainians in Singapore, cannot silently observe Russian invasion into our motherland – Ukraine.
On the 24th day of February 2022, at 5.00am, Russia started a full invasion – launching missile strikes on the whole territory of Ukraine.
Missiles are hitting residential buildings, kindergartens, orphanages, across the whole country.
Invasion of Ukraine is a threat to the whole civilized world.
It is a threat to the freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom of all human rights.
This war already has global consequences that will loom across the world.
There are many Ukrainians in Singapore.
We have been profoundly affected by this war.
Ukraine is our family.
Many have lost their loved ones and have been forced from their homes.
We would like to express our unconditional solidarity and support to all the heroes of Ukraine who are successfully defeating the Russian invaders and protecting our homeland, as well as the whole Western World from this crime.
We are extremely grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore for expressing their support to Ukraine.
Singapore strongly condemns any invasion of a sovereign state under any pretext.
Singapore reiterates that sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine must be respected.
The Singapore Red Cross will contribute SGD 100,000 to support affected communities in Ukraine.
According to the Singapore Red Cross, about 3 million people are in need of humanitarian aid.
30% of them are elderly.
We are grateful for all the support from Singapore and the international community.
However, since the situation in Ukraine is absolutely critical, Ukraine needs more support.
In this very moment, your silence means consent.
If you don’t disagree, you automatically agree.
In order to speak up and address the international community, we are recording this video with a message to help our country.
Thus we urge everyone to support Ukraine, and, in a way, the world’s security.
Please, share the information about the war in Ukraine.
But please do so from reliable and internationally-recognised sources.
Support Ukraine, morally and informationally.
Exclude Russian business from financial markets.
Urge leaders of your countries to ban Russia from SWIFT.
Most importantly, condemn Russia’s unjustified attacks on Ukraine.
Please, pray for Ukraine and its people.
Stop War. Peace for Ukraine and our families.
Stop Russian invasion.
Glory to Ukraine
Glory to the Ukrainian Armed Forces!
