Life on Board
One of the Chinese sailors has uploaded a short but strong video about his everyday life on the sea. On 20 March, he stated that he was already on the 21st day in the Strait of Hormuz. His ship is anchored, and it is waiting without a definite plan. Other ships around also remain in the same position.

The video footage depicts the peaceful and slow life on the ship as indicated by the sailor. He even identifies watermelons that he had previously planted, but they might fail this time. The video was spread online within a short period of time; this is because it is genuine and sincere.
Water Saving Methods
The sailor also describes the way in which they conserve water on a daily basis. The water available is of very low quality; thus, they have to be careful with it. They maintain three buckets in the bathroom.

There is a seawater bucket, which they use to flush the toilet. There is a different bucket with clean water to wash the face and have a shower. He brushes his teeth with a small bowl, according to the video clips that are available online. This cautious mechanism has made them use less water and stay clean on the ship.
Daily Survival Routine
Life on the ship is now routine. The sailor cleans the clothes with one bucket, and he utilizes the water that was used the day before. Water used to rinse clothes does not become dirty; thus, he reuses the same water to wash hands.

This reveals the significance of each drop of water. The crew members also purchase drinking water themselves and pack it in boxes. They use a kettle to boil water to use in their daily activities. These minor actions enable them to go on with their lives as they wait.
Quiet Human Story
There is no action or drama in the video, but it tells a silent human narrative. The sailor talks in a relaxed manner and demonstrates just ordinary scenes of his life. A lot of viewers relate to his circumstances since they appear calm yet challenging. The pressure is silent because of the long waiting time and scarcity of supplies. Through his narrative, people have a closer experience of what life is like in the Strait of Hormuz. This candid perception is what has primarily made his video viral on social media.
