Parking Dispute Turns Violent in Kanpur
On the night of 25 May 2025, a minor argument over a parking space in a high-end apartment complex in Kanpur, India, spiraled into a shocking act of violence.
At the Ratan Planet Residential Society in the Naramau area, a resident allegedly bit off the nose of the society’s secretary during a heated exchange, sparking outrage both locally and online.
The incident was reported to police on 27 May.
Brutal Assault Caught on Camera
CCTV footage from the gated society revealed the disturbing sequence of events. Kshitij Mishra, reportedly a senior government officer, summoned the secretary, Rupendra Singh Yadav, after finding a car parked in his reserved spot. Despite Yadav’s attempts to resolve the issue, Mishra grew increasingly aggressive.
The video shows Mishra yelling, slapping Yadav several times, and then grabbing him by the neck before violently biting off his nose. While Mishra casually walked away, Yadav, a retired engineer, clutched his bloodied face and head home in visible agony.
Medical Emergency and Police Action
Yadav’s family rushed him to Regency Hospital. However, doctors told the family they couldn’t reattach the severed nose and advised them to transfer Yadav immediately to a specialised facility in Delhi for reconstructive surgery. Yadav’s son filed a formal complaint at the Bithoor police station.

Police initially took Mishra into custody but released him the same evening because no one had filed a formal complaint at the time.

They later admitted him to the hospital after his health reportedly deteriorated. Authorities have since confirmed the registration of a case and stated that legal proceedings will continue once Mishra recovers.
Public Outrage and Calls for Reform
The video of the incident quickly went viral across Indian social media, where it was widely condemned.
Many called for swift action to be taken.
Some tried to find humour in the bizarre act.
Investigation Ongoing
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Pandey, the investigation is ongoing. Police visited both the victim and the accused, and they plan to take further action once Mishra leaves the hospital. Authorities assured the public they will pursue justice through due process.
As of now, Rupendra Yadav remains under medical care in Delhi, while the incident continues to draw national attention as a symbol of everyday disputes spiraling dangerously out of control.
