Extreme Weather Batters Central India
Severe thunderstorms and heavy rains have swept across Madhya Pradesh, India, affecting over 20 districts. Violent winds have uprooted trees, damaged homes, and disrupted daily life.
A particularly shocking incident took place in Banda town, Sagar district, where a powerful storm tore off the roof of a kutcha (mud) house while two children were still clinging to it.
Children Thrown into Air During Roof Collapse
The terrifying scene unfolded when 8-year-old Rahul and 10-year-old Pooja tried to hold down the roof as it was being torn off by gale-force winds. Tragically, the sheer force of the storm carried the roof—and the children—with it.
Caught on a neighbor’s mobile phone, the footage shows the children being flung into the air, prompting screams and panic in the densely populated neighborhood.
Panic, Rescue, and Medical Response
Residents rushed to the children’s aid moments after they hit the ground. Both suffered serious injuries to their heads and backs. Local authorities quickly moved them to the nearest health center before transferring them to Sagar District Hospital for further treatment.

According to hospital officials, both children are in stable condition and showing signs of recovery under constant medical care.
Authorities Urge Caution Amid Weather Warnings
Local government officials have urged residents to remain indoors and secure loose structures, especially in rural areas where kutcha houses are common.
Weather authorities continue to monitor the situation, forecasting more storms in the coming days. Relief and rescue operations are on standby in several districts to respond to further emergencies.
