A regular weekend hangout turned dramatic when a group of friends in Saraburi, Thailand, were interrupted by a sudden police raid, all because they were playing a board game.
Officers Respond to Gambling Tip-Off
On the night of Sunday, June 15, a group of five young people gathered in a house in Saraburi province for a casual get-together that included a barbecue and a card-based board game.
However, what was meant to be a relaxing evening took an unexpected turn when four police officers showed up at the door, acting on a report that illegal gambling was taking place inside.
Caught on CCTV and TikTok
One of the players, TikTok user @/nnannthc, posted CCTV footage from inside the house.
In the now-viral video, the friends are seen sitting in a circle in a brightly lit room when officers slide open the glass door and burst into the house without warning.

Startled, one player almost fell flat to the floor.

Upon realising the group was not gambling and after some awkward questioning, both parties laughed, and the police left the house without pressing any charges.

According to reports, a neighbour had seen the group playing cards and assumed it was a gambling session. They reported the activity to local authorities, prompting the raid
Thai Law is Strict on Card Games
Under Thailand’s strict gambling laws, even casual card games at home can be legally risky.
According to Bangkok Post, the 1935 Gambling Act bans most gambling unless licensed, and another regulation limits individuals to owning no more than 120 playing cards unless registered.

Even if no money is involved, authorities may view setups involving chips, multiple players, or a designated game area as evidence of gambling intent.
In this case, the group repeatedly told the officers they were not gambling, and no money was involved, just a regular board game as part of their get-together.
Just a Game, Not a Crime
Despite the initial scare, the group was able to clarify the situation. Reports stated that the officers apologized for the misunderstanding before leaving.
