A video from Sapra Hospital in Hisar shared on X has sparked an online uproar. It allegedly shows a nurse elbowing a patient in the ICU while another nurse was present in the room.
What Happened
In the early hours of June 20 (Thursday), a patient admitted for liver issues was reportedly abused by a nurse. CCTV footage shows the nurse approaching the patient’s bed, with the patient’s hands tied. The nurse then pulls the curtains around the bed and looks around to ensure no witnesses before committing the act of violence. The family later learned of the incident directly from the patient.
Family’s Report
The patient’s son, Darshan Singh from Kalayat in Kaithal, said hospital staff held his father, Krishna, against his will, violently assaulted him, and threatened him with death. The incident involved Dr. Naveen Kumar, nurse Sonu, and a security guard. Darshan’s cousin Sumit, who was outside the ICU, didn’t know about the assault. Krishna was admitted to the ICU on June 18 (Tuesday), and the assault occurred on June 19 (Wednesday).
Hospital and Police Action
According to India Today, the police have filed a case against five individuals, including a doctor, a nursing officer, and a security guard, under various criminal charges. The hospital has suspended the accused staff pending further investigation. Dr. Tarun Sapra, the hospital coordinator, stated that the incident was personal and unrelated to the hospital administration.
Response and Concerns
Viewers online are upset about the incident, criticizing how hospital patients are treated. Many are calling for better care and safety measures. The incident at Sapra Hospital has raised concerns about patient safety and how hospital staff behave. People are demanding more transparency and better oversight in healthcare facilities.
