As she was on the train in the North-East Line heading towards Punggol at 6.58pm on 7 May 2024, a follower witnessed a “beautiful display of humanity and compassion”. She shared the heart-warming incident with Wake Up Singapore as she felt that the staff member deserved recognition.
An bespectacled Indian train staff member who stood beside a sign that read “in the interests of safety, please refrain from conversing with our staff when the train is in manual operation” was the subject of her praise.
During her journey, she saw a young boy who was very enthusiastic about trains walk up to the said staff member and shared his thoughts. Despite the “non-stop conversation“, the staff listened attentively, smiled, and showed genuine interest.
@sgviralvids I witnessed a heartwarming moment on the train recently. A boy boarded and began enthusiastically sharing his thoughts about trains with an SMRT staff member. What struck me was the staff’s exceptional patience and kindness. Despite the boy’s non-stop conversation, the staff listened attentively, smiling and showing genuine interest. It was a beautiful display of humanity and compassion, which is all too rare in today’s world. I wanted to share this encounter because the staff member truly deserves recognition for their kindness and dedication to making a positive impact.
