A bomb threat at Monash University’s Sunway City campus forced the temporary closure of the campus, but was swiftly dealt with by university security and local police. Later authorities confirmed that the area was safe, and normal operations have resumed.

What happened at Monash University
Monash University received a security alert about a potential bomb threat on campus; the university responded to the alert, and the official statement was shared on Monash University’s Instagram page.
A comprehensive security screening was conducted, in collaboration with the Subang Jaya district police. Later, authorities said the situation had been “all clear,” and on 6 June, the Sunway City campus returned to normal operations.
During the initial response period, the university also said its CSJB campus would be closed until further notice.
Campus Closure and Resumption
In a subsequent statement, Monash said normal operations resumed after the incident on 4 June.

The university thanked the Subang Jaya police, security personnel, staff, students, and visitors for their cooperation in the evacuation process. It also apologized for any inconvenience caused and provided support services to the campus community.
Students and online reactions to the incident
The evacuation reportedly occurred around 8:30pm, with parts of the campus reopened near midnight, comments online noted. Some users commented that the campus is open 24 hours a day during finals, which gave some context to the time of the incident.

Some joked that the threat was at the same time as exams were taking place, while others mentioned that a nearby institution, Taylor’s University, was also reported to have been evacuated on the same day.
The incident added unexpected stress during an already high-pressure exam period, but no injuries or confirmed danger were reported.
