Modi Gifts Melody Sweets to Meloni in Rome
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Wednesday shared a light-hearted video of India’s Narendra Modi presenting her with a bag of sweets during his visit to Rome.

“Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift – a very, very good toffee,” Meloni said in the footage while holding a packet of Indian-made Melody sweets, before the two leaders shared a laugh. The gesture appeared to play on the ‘Melodi’ nickname widely used online by supporters of the two leaders, combining Modi and Meloni’s names.

Meloni had also posted a selfie with Modi in front of the Colosseum on Tuesday, shortly after the Indian leader arrived in the Italian capital.

Modi is on the final leg of a five-nation diplomatic tour from May 15 to 20, covering the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Italy. The trip is aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships, trade, energy security and technology cooperation across the Gulf and Europe.
