Venezuelan pupils of a state school were not anticipating one of the teachers being a special guest who was going to solve mathematical problems together with them.
Rather than having a new teacher, a dog called Snoopy, which was trained, entered the classroom and immediately became the focus of the classroom. The dog of Turmero in state Aragua was calm and confident and revealed the skills that astonished children and adults.
The local group known as Chicas Dog Trainer trains Snoopy. He is involved in basic activities during school visits which combine learning and play. Snoopy responds to the given instructions by jumping or barking when the trainers present number cards. The kids are observing closely, smiling, laughing, as the dog accomplishes every job.
A Visitation to the Classroom.
A video footage of a recent session in Miranda school depicts Snoopy standing before students in one of their training sessions. Volunteer students put up their arms, and Snoopy leaps a specific amount of times in order to solve math questions. The classroom is more of a popular show than a usual lesson and most students applaud after every correct action.
One of the trainers of Snoopy, Sebastian Larez, described that it was not taught to him throughout the night. He claimed that Snoopy was conditioned step by step, and he had much time associated with other dogs when he was still young. This assisted him to remain calm and concentrated whenever he was near people, and mostly children.
How Snoopy Learns Numbers
The trainers claim that Snoopy is able to perceive numbers and know simple addition and multiplication. In demonstrations, the trainers have cards with easy-to-understand symbols, and he is directed by using hand signs. Snoop reacts thoughtfully, demonstrating what he has been taught by doing it again and again.
Josefina Ramos who is another trainer explained that training is a patience and discipline daily process. She mentioned that it is easy to work with Snoopy which is rewarding in itself when she observes the excitement that the students get out of the sessions.
More Than Just a Performance
Such school visits do not simply consist of demonstrating the powers of Snoopy. The programme is aimed at making the children feel at ease with animals and to view dogs favorably. It is recommended that students participate in interactive games, questions and become active participants in the activities with Snoopy.
Snoopy has turned into an invitee and a popular visitor in the schools within the locality with his kind manner and amazing antics. His visits make boring school days memorable and students are astonished by a dog who is able to count, calculate and associate with people in such a natural way.
