A man in his 30s had to be rescued after getting trapped inside a pillar supporting the MRT tracks in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Kuala Lumpur, early Wednesday morning.

Early Morning Emergency

It was still dark in the early hours of 10 September 2025 when the TTDI Fire and Rescue Station received a call at 2:38 am about a man trapped beneath the elevated MRT line.

The location couldn’t have been closer. The incident happened right in front of the fire station itself.

Soon after, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that two fire stations were dispatched to the scene, sending 12 firefighters and two support vehicles to handle the emergency.

With the help of an aerial ladder platform brought in from the Sri Hartamas Fire Station, the team managed to pull him out safely.

Identity Confirmed and Official Statement from Fire Station

In its Facebook post, the TTDI Fire and Rescue Station confirmed:

“Upon arrival, the team found a Malay male in his 30s trapped in the MRT pillar beneath the TTDI MRT tracks. The victim was successfully rescued using an aerial ladder platform and handed over to TTDI police for further action.”

From Victim to Suspect

What first appeared to be a straightforward rescue soon took an unexpected turn.

Authorities later revealed that the man is now being investigated for suspected cable theft activities, Malay Mail reported.

Cause Remains Unknown

Although police are looking into possible links to theft, it is still unclear how the man ended up inside the MRT pillar itself.
