Concerts are a popular form of entertainment, often enhanced by pyrotechnics and dazzling light shows designed to create an unforgettable experience. However, while these spectacular effects impress audiences, they can sometimes lead to unforeseen accidents.
A recent incident at Dua Lipa’s Asia Tour in Kuala Lumpur on November 24 emphasizes the risks that come with such performances.
A Terrifying Incident at Dua Lipa’s Concert
While enjoying the concert, Reddit user DoggySmile69 shared an awful experience of being struck in the head by a pyrotechnic metal tube.
The tube, weighing between 5-7kg, fell from a pyrotechnic cannon and hit him as he was standing near the stage, causing a heavy blow to his head.
“This happened in 15 minutes after the start of the performance,” he wrote on Reddit.
According to World of Buzz, the concertgoer had positioned himself close to the stage to enjoy the full experience. Just 15 minutes into the performance, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his head.
Upon turning around, he saw a large tube and noticed blood dripping from his head.
His wife immediately alerted security, and by the time help arrived, the bleeding continued until he reached the ambulance backstage. Another woman was injured by the same pyrotechnic tube after it bounced off his head.
Medical Treatment and Uncertain Compensation
After being transported to the hospital, OP (original poster) underwent a CT scan, received a tetanus shot, and had seven stitches for the wound.
He also mentioned that the concert authorities paid for his medical bills but informed him that they would not offer compensation beyond this.
“Some concert authority already said that they will pay only medical bills,” he wrote in the Reddit post.
Despite this, he expressed dissatisfaction with the response, stating that he was still seeking fair compensation for the incident.
He clarified that his intention was not to harm Dua Lipa’s reputation but to receive appropriate compensation for what he described as a “near-death experience.”
“I don’t wanna ruin her reputation. I just want my fair compensation for near-death experience,” he explained.
The concert authorities also allegedly provided compensation to the woman who was injured during the same incident, but nothing further was offered to him.
A Legal Path Forward
Additionally, he plans to seek legal advice and potentially contact his embassy. He added that the concert authorities had asked him to take down his Reddit post, but he refused.
He also declined an offer to be driven back to his hotel by the concert authorities, opting to take a taxi instead.
As of now, OP is awaiting further developments and has expressed his intent to follow up with the Russian embassy for guidance.
