Man Remanded After Allegedly Biting Policeman’s Ear During Arrest in Kuala Lumpur

Policeman Injured During Arrest at Clinic

A 38-year-old Nigerian man has been remanded for four days after allegedly biting off part of a police corporal’s ear during an arrest in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.

According to Sentul district Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari, the suspect will remain in custody until Tuesday (April 29, 2025).

Disturbance Reported at a Clinic

The incident took place at about 10.03 am on Friday (April 25) after police received a call about a man causing a disturbance at a private clinic in Metro Prima, Kepong.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said officers from Kepong police station responded and tried to calm the man down. 

After he appeared to settle down, he was handcuffed and escorted toward the patrol car.

However, as the officers were placing him into the vehicle, the suspect suddenly turned aggressive and allegedly bit the policeman’s left ear, severing a part of it.

Suspect Tested Positive for Drugs

Following the attack, the corporal, who was bleeding heavily, was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for emergency treatment.

A urine test later revealed that the suspect tested positive for drugs, The Star reported.

According to New Straits Times, investigations revealed that the man is a student at a private college. However, it is also reported that he does not possess valid travel documents.

Investigations Ongoing

Police are investigating the case under Sections 325 and 353 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and obstructing a public servant from carrying out his duties. 

The suspect is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which prohibits individuals from remaining in Malaysia after their pass or permit has expired or been canceled.
