Caught by Public Before Police Arrest
A 41-year-old unemployed man was arrested on Wednesday (March 13) for allegedly molesting multiple women at the Lurah Semantan Ramadan bazaar in Temerloh, Pahang.
According to Temerloh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan, public members detained the man around 5:30 PM before handing him over to the police.
Deliberately Collided With Women at Bazaar
In a report by Sin Chew Daily, the suspect had been frequenting the crowded bazaar over several days, deliberately bumping into female visitors and touching their chests and buttocks.
A TikTok user, @/zackrazbundle, shared footage of the incidents that led to widespread anger and concern.
In his caption, shoppers were urged to stay alert and cautious with a man dressed in a blue shirt and hat, moving through the bazaar while targeting women.
Three Women Filed Police Reports
Following the video’s circulation, three women—aged 23, 26, and 27—came forward to file reports against the suspect.
Mazlan stated that the first victim, a 26-year-old businesswoman, was allegedly molested on March 6, while the second and third victims, a 23-year-old cashier and a 27-year-old sales assistant, reported being targeted on March 10.
According to their statements, they were walking through the bazaar to buy food when the suspect intentionally bumped into them, using the opportunity to touch various parts of their bodies.
Suspect Admitted to the Crimes
After his arrest, the suspect admitted to his actions. He told police that he had not had physical contact with women for 13 years since being diagnosed as HIV-positive, which he claimed was his reason for committing the offenses, MStar reported.
Mazlan confirmed that police are investigating the case under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty.
Prior Criminal Record
Authorities also revealed that the suspect had five prior criminal records related to drugs and theft. His remand was extended on Thursday (March 14) as investigations continue.
