Man, 65, Killed While Changing Flat Tire on a Highway in Shah Alam, Malaysia

A 65-year-old man lost his life on Monday after a tragic accident while trying to change a flat tire on the Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway (LKSA) in Shah Alam, Malaysia.

The incident occurred on Monday, 18 November 2024, at around 12:30 PM at Kilometer 5.5. The elderly driver, a resident of Taman Sri Muda, had stopped his Toyota Camry after one of its tires went flat.

Tragic Chain of Events

According to Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the victim had pulled over to the shoulder of the highway and was retrieving a spare tire from his car’s boot. A good Samaritan driving a four-wheel drive vehicle stopped to assist him in changing the tire.

However, a shuttle bus traveling in the highway’s left lane failed to avoid the parked vehicles.

In an unfortunate turn, the bus struck the off-road vehicle, pushing it forward and causing it to hit the elderly man, still in his car. The impact caused severe injuries, and the victim was declared dead at the scene.

he victim’s body was subsequently transported to Shah Alam Hospital for an autopsy. Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and aid in the investigation.
