Covered Real Birth Year With Sticker

According to The Standard, the elderly man, surnamed Cheng, altered his Home Return Permit by covering his real birth year with a sticker, making him appear 10 years younger.

Immigration Officers Saw the Change

Cheng and his partner were traveling abroad from Luohu Port when immigration officers discovered the change.

The couple was temporarily separated while authorities investigated the tampering.

A Second Chance at Love

Cheng, whose actual birth year is 1946, had been living alone for several years after the death of his spouse.

His children arranged a blind date for him, which led to an immediate connection with his new partner.

Begged Officers to Keep it a Secret

However, she reportedly preferred a partner around 60 years old, prompting Cheng to adjust his age on the permit.

During questioning, Cheng pleaded with immigration officers to keep the alteration a secret from his partner.

First Offense, Light Warning

Authorities noted that this was Cheng’s first offense.

Since he quickly admitted to the alteration and corrected it, the immigration officers chose not to impose a penalty, instead issuing him a warning.
