Malaysia is about to welcome a meaningful new award that focuses on kindness instead of fame. Malaysian philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, widely known as Uncle Kentang, has announced the launch of the Malaysia Kind Heart Awards, an initiative created to honour ordinary people who have made a real difference in the lives of others.

Known for his long-standing dedication to helping the needy, Uncle Kentang now wants to shine the spotlight on other unsung heroes across the country.

A Life Dedicated To Helping Others

Uncle Kentang has spent many years supporting people facing hardship, from patients in need of medical care to families struggling to survive. Through his tireless efforts, he has become a respected figure in Malaysia’s charity community. This new award reflects his belief that kindness should be recognised and celebrated, especially when it comes from everyday individuals who expect nothing in return.

The idea behind the awards was shared on his Facebook page, where he explained that the goal is to appreciate members of the public who have changed lives for the better. According to a post shared on Facebook, Uncle Kentang said the award is meant to highlight empathy and the true spirit of humanity, values he feels are often overlooked.

Why A “Kentang” Trophy Matters

One unique feature of the Malaysia Kind Heart Awards is the trophy itself. Instead of a traditional design, the award will feature a kentang, or potato. Uncle Kentang explained that the kentang symbolises humility, empathy, and human warmth.

He wanted a trophy that truly stands out and carries a deeper meaning. He shared that no other award has ever used a kentang as its symbol, making this one special and memorable.

Who Will Be Honoured

The potential recipients of the awards include doctors, surgeons, firefighters, and many others who have shown kindness beyond what is expected of them. Uncle Kentang noted that the selection is based on how these individuals have positively impacted others.

From brave rescue efforts to quiet acts of care, every contribution matters and will not be forgotten.

Event Details And Public Recognition

The Malaysia Kind Heart Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on 7 May and 8 May 2026. The names and stories of the recipients will be shared on official pages and websites, allowing the public to learn about their inspiring actions. Uncle Kentang described the award as something recipients would proudly display, as it represents true and ultimate kindness.

As the event date approaches, many are eager to see who will be recognised. The Malaysia Kind Heart Awards promise to be a heartfelt celebration of compassion, reminding everyone that kindness still plays a powerful role in society.

Many people welcomed the awards for shining a light on kindness and positive values, saying they remind society of our shared humanity. Others spoke highly of Uncle Kentang, praising his humble nature and his choice to honour everyday heroes rather than himself.
