The MRT women’s coach in Malaysia was introduced to ensure safe and comfortable travel for women. However, a recent viral video has raised new questions about how successful that purpose has been.

The video shows a teenage girl standing with crutches in both hands, staggering in the crowded coach, unable to find a seat, while the surrounding passengers are staring at their mobile phones. As soon as the incident came to light, a huge debate started about compassion and social responsibility.

About the Guidelines

As the controversy continues to grow, Rapid KL responded in the comments. They expressed their regret and reminded passengers that they must give up their seats, giving priority to passengers including the elderly, pregnant women, the disabled and children. The company said that the travel experience will improve only if politeness and compassion are maintained for everyone.

Online Reactions

The video immediately sparked a storm of discussion. Many expressed disappointment and said that the lack of compassion in society is increasing day by day. Many said that such incidents are very common in women’s coaches. Some said that they were not able to get a seat even when they were pregnant.

Some reminded that many people are ready to give help if asked. Others commented that male passengers are often more willing to give up their seats. Some expressed their regret and said that such scenes spoil the image of any country.

Two Sides to the Debate

However, another group of netizens say that the video does not portray the whole picture of the incident. According to them, sometimes those who offer help are not accepted. Some are shy, while others do not want to take a seat because their destination is close. In this situation, misunderstandings are very natural. Therefore, according to many, one should clearly state one’s needs if necessary.
