M. Syafril Firdaus, also known as MSF, an obstetrician-gynecologist, has been dismissed and arrested after a viral video surfaced allegedly showing him sexually assaulting a pregnant woman during an ultrasound examination in West Java, Indonesia.
According to Tribun News, the clip posted on an Instagram account on Monday, April 14, 2025, showed the doctor using an ultrasound device before allegedly touching the victim’s chest inappropriately.

The examination took place in a clinic room believed to be at Karya Harsa Clinic in Garut.

The incident quickly went viral on social media, prompting public outrage and triggering investigations by both the Garut Police and West Java Regional Police.
Authorities located him in Jakarta, where he was arrested and brought in for interrogation.
“MSF was in Jakarta. He has been secured and is still undergoing investigation.”
Incident Took Place in June 2024, Clinic Responds
The footage, reportedly from June 20, 2024, appeared to be a CCTV footage from the clinic. The clinic is located near the Pengkolan area, close to Otista Town Square, according to Jakarta Globe.
Furthermore, authorities are reviewing whether the camera installation complied with medical privacy standards.
Deputy Director of Karya Harsa Clinic, Dewi Sri Fitriani, confirmed that the doctor was dismissed following earlier complaints. Additionally, he had been employed at the Karya Harsa Clinic for two years before being dismissed.

“There had been prior complaints, and we immediately coordinated with the police,” she said on Tuesday, April 15. “This case has severely damaged the reputation of our clinic and cast a shadow over the entire medical profession.”
The clinic has since handed the matter over to law enforcement and is reportedly reviewing internal procedures in response to the case.
Two Victims Have Filed Police Reports
So far, two victims have formally reported him to the Garut Police. Both cases are separate from the victim seen in the viral video. Authorities are now investigating whether there are additional victims.
It is believed that he bypassed standard clinic procedures by personally inviting them via WhatsApp messages and offering free services.
Officials Call for Immediate Action
Dedi Mulyadi, Governor of West Java, has urged the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) to act swiftly in revoking the doctor’s medical license.

“Just revoke the doctor’s practice license and, if necessary, the university that graduated the doctor to revoke the doctor’s degree,” Mulyadi told the media in Bandung on April 15, as reported by Portal Musi Rawas.
Investigation and Interrogation Underway
M. Syafril Firdaus is currently undergoing police examination following his arrest in Jakarta. Authorities have gathered evidence, including witness testimonies from clinic staff and medical experts.
